Fine Addition to Kensington on Connecticut Ave.: Capital One; Kensington, MD

KENSINGTON, MD, October, 2005 – Traveling up Connecticut Avenue going north from the Beltway and crossing into the Kensington city limits, you will notice the familiar peaks and beautiful brick façade of another new branch of local leading bank, Capital One. After breaking ground last August, Rollins-PCI Construction Company has crafted a striking building whose doors opened to the public in early 2006.

As in all Capital One branches, the interior finishes of the final product that Rollins-PCI's delivered contained an opulent cherry-wood millwork package, upgraded light fixtures and a marble entrance foyer. The exterior walls are brick veneer in the distinctive color, striking trim and distinctive roof line that has become synonymous with Capital One throughout the Greater Washington, D.C. region. Immaculately landscaped grounds frame a substantial parking lot and drive-thru teller lanes.

This building is certainly a fine addition to the area, in keeping with the local character and flavor of Kensington.

Unlike some general contractors that claim to have expertise in all types of construction, Rollins-PCI Construction is completely focused on two types of commercial construction: office interiors and small base-building construction such as stand-alone bank branches.

Traveling northbound up Connecticut Avenue from the Beltway as you cross into the Kensington city limits, you will find a classic monument to Rollins-PCI’s skill in small basebuilding construction. Rising from the corner lot at 10707 Connecticut Avenue you will notice the familiar peaks and beautiful brick façade of another new branch of Capital One.

Never was Rollins-PCI’s policy of treating deadlines with the utmost importance put to the test more than with this project. From breaking ground to a finished bank that could open to the public, Rollins-PCI was allotted a mere 16 weeks! This already tight schedule was further complicated by the need to demolish a former Pizza Hut before site work could begin in early September.

From demolition to excavation, grading, pouring the footers and foundation, erecting structural steel, light gauge steel framing, roofing, sheathing, brick masonry exterior, building a complete premium interior banking hall package and then finishing off with landscaping, paving and sidewalks, Rollins-PCI Construction delivered a striking building whose doors swung open to the public before year end.

Consistent with the premium interior finish packages that Rollins-PCI is capable of delivering, the banking hall contains an opulent cherry-wood millwork package, upgraded light fixtures and a marble entrance foyer. The exterior walls are brick veneer in a rich brown color and complimented by striking trim and a distinctive roof line. Immaculately landscaped grounds frame a substantial parking lot and drive-thru teller lanes.

From day one, this building has stood as a fine addition to the area, in keeping with the local character and flavor of historic Kensington.
