When Smith Barney, the venerable brokerage arm of industry leader Citigroup, decided to tap into the unused space adjacent to their seventh floor offices at 30 W. Patrick Street in Frederick, Maryland they awarded the project to Rollins-PCI Construction. Rollins-PCI Construction was well prepared, with this office expansion project in the historic downtown area of Frederick, to continue the well-established tradition of exceptional performance it has earned with similar blue chip clients.

To complete this project, Rollins-PCI Construction faced the challenge of erecting the new office space immediately adjacent to the existing office while Smith Barney’s busy brokerage remained operational. Rollins-PCI Construction’s expert team kept disruption to the important work of the Smith Barney employees to a minimum by adjusting work shifts and confining the noisiest construction process to off-hours. Another challenge arose when there was a conflict with the existing infrastructure and several specified items in the design. The experienced Rollins-PCI Construction team did not miss a beat and rapidly overcame the challenge without any significant impact on schedule or price. In addition, Rollins-PCI Construction’s skilled in-house team did all demo, layout, framing, ceilings and drywall. They worked quickly and efficiently getting the project done on time and on budget.

The result is an impressive new space that flows seamlessly into the preexisting offices of Smith Barney. The feedback from the client has been equally impressive. From the communication and phasing to the finished product - rich millwork and glass-fronted offices throughout, to the luxurious hardwood floors in the lobby - the completed project highlights the image Smith Barney has worked hard to establish and maintain.

As this was the first project with Smith Barney, the reputation of Rollins-PCI Construction was on the line. By performing exceptionally for Smith Barney, Rollins-PCI Construction was able to deliver on this project, upholding both the brand image of Smith Barney and its own stellar reputation.
