When the adjacent space at Muddy Branch Shopping Center became available beside one of Chevy Chase Bank’s existing locations, they had a vision to double the size of the branch. To turn that vision into a reality, Chevy Chase Bank turned to the trusted craftsmen at Rollins-PCI Construction.
Two critical factors made the project challenging from the outset. First, the vacant space had to be carefully constructed to properly “marry up” with the finishes and layout of the existing branch. Second, all construction had to take place while the existing branch remained open. Finally, upon substantial completion of the new phase, the final demolition of the dividing wall and actual joining of the two sides of the branch had to take place over the course of one weekend so that the bank could be open for business by Monday morning!
Without hesitation, Rollins-PCI Construction’s expert project management team and field staff came up with a logical sequence and “phasing” of the job to accomplish their client’s objectives. All construction of the new side was completed with minimal disruption to the existing operations of the bank and all tenants in the plaza. During the designated “transition weekend”, Rollins-PCI’s Superintendents engaged the company’s sizable in-house team of carpenters and finishers whom, along with Rollins-PCI’s trusted subcontractors, were able to work staggered shifts throughout the entire weekend to marry the newly built side to the existing branch.
By Monday morning, a beautiful, inviting and more spacious bank was open for business as usual and, once again, Rollins-PCI Construction had risen to the challenge and delivered the results that our clients demand.
